Climate Control Panel/Center console Access
Author Last Post
Thanks. A call was my final plan if all else failed. I hate to hassle Johnny if I do not have to. I am sure he gets his share of calls.
Robert, I understand what you are trying to do. You must remove the center console to access the A/C module. The bottom 2 bolts are very hard to get at. They come out under the dash at the bottom of the tower. I'm pulling the dash in my 93 this weekend and I know the tower has never been removed so all I can offer is a picture of them while I'm doing mine. Give Johnny a call he may have a trick I don't know about.

Yes, I got the two top 10mm screw/bolts out, no problem. Getting to the bottom screws and removing the lower info panels is the problem. To move the console requires those screws be pulled/accessed. The shop manual shows them coming out, it just doesn't show how. Seems none of the info panels below the A/C vent can be removed without pulling the center console.
Robert, Bad news there's no secret access. There a pain to get out. Taking out the central supply and the body control module will give you a little more room. The bolts are 10 mm a 1/4" drive ratchet works well there are 2 of them . I put the closest one back in but as a rule most people leave them both out.

I am trying to change out the Climate Control Panel on the center console on my '89 Allante'. I have the A/C vent and the 2 top screws removed, but am unable to access the 2 lower screws. The shop manual only shows that the lower screws are to be removed, not how they are to be reached. They cannot be reached from behind the dash. Anyone know the secret access point?
