James, give me a call way too much to type 609-634-6518
Does the pull down actually pull the rear top down at all, or just part way, or does it just catch the latch and not pull down at all?
If motor runs but does not pull, look at plastic casing on rear pull down motor, as that has tendency to crack, and then gears will not turn properly to pull down.
If casing is cracked, you can contact Johnny for a replacement rear pull down.
Dick H. at allante source also has rebuilt ones as well if you need a replacement.
Also try manual switch under rear deck lid to see if that works as well, so you know if you are getting power to motor, so to know if wires are connected properly, or that circuit breaker is good, as there is a breaker rather than a fuse.
when you hit the switch, the motor should run the latch to the top and then stop, so it would be in top position to engage J hook when you slap the top  down.
There should be a spark when J hook touches latch, as that connects the circuit, motor then pulls down the latch.
Watch Johnny's video on top operation on this site.
front locks in place no problem. Can not get the rear of top to snug down. It is in the part it clicks into but not snug. 1/2 inch gap and rear windows angled top to front. Do I need something or not doing something right? Very new to this car , generally stay late 60's and early 70s but wanted a fun cruiser. Not so much fu yet.
