I have never had to replaced the cable myself. That looks like it's held in by a rolled pin. Give Johnny a call he would probably be able to tell you how difficult it is to remove or you can always use the good used one you have if need be.

Thanks for the info Ross ! I was thinking that just replacing the frayed cable with the replacement I have was the easiest route to take..However after examining the cable housing assembly I'm not sure how to get the cable out of the pull switch. It might be easier just to unbolt the old assembly and install the good working one I have...I have attached a pic of where the cable is attached to the release switch...

I guess you were trying to release the top with the pass thru door lever. I assume you got the top open.

Replacing the cable on the 87-early90 remove the old cable at the motor by loosening the set screw that holds the core to the release lever. to release the cable itself look at it and there is a clip that must be spread then lifted up that will release the cable outer portion.this is the same on all years Under the cover behind the levers there are 2 10mm bolts. Remove them and angle the assembly out of the panel then push the core end out of the lever and remove the cable.if you have a later model 90.5-93 the panel behind the drivers seat will expose the bolts that hold the release lever assembly in place.Hope this helps and if you have any questions or clarification feel free to give me a call.

Found the hidden cable tucked away in the carpeting left of the emergency release handle. Any one have any tips on how to remove and replace the pull down motor release cable ?
Attempting to replace my broken cable on my 93 for the Convertible Top Open Release. I have tried the Emergency Release Handle in the trunk and it does nothing. I have attempted to stick a screw driver under the lip of the molding where the J hook is hoping to get the motor to rise bit no luck there.... Any one have any experience and success in getting the motor to cycle back up ?

Thanks
