Yes. Very small leak, just enough to steam a little. The smell could also be from the engine compartment getting sucked into the cowl vent.

do you notice any oily build up on inside of windshield? Are both fans working as intended? sounds like core but wonder why temp spikes. usually temp guage should not go past half way. (usually) Right after running how much fluid in over flow tank?

I agree, if smell is more inside, a good possibility is heater core.

The smell could be the heater core leaking.

Hi all -
I have a problem and hoping you guys can give some guidance here. I've noticed that while driving my Allante in the winter months, I'm getting a coolant smell coming thru the vents. The smell is more pronounced inside than outside.
Also, it may be mind over matter, I swear I smell it more when the temperature gauge climbs past the mid-mark. Mine seems to creep 1 bar in the last 1/3 section of the digital bars but then comes back down to the mid/normal section.
Would love have your thoughts as to where to start! BTW, 1991 here with less than 48K miles... just for consideration. Thanks in advance!!!
