Thank you! got it.

Mike,

Clean the contacts on the switch again make sure you clean the plug end use CRC electronic contact cleaner. Most napa stores and advanced auto parts stores carry it. use a brass wire brush to clean the contacts on the switch there on the top and bottom. Use a tooth pick to get the old grease out of the plug. With the ground wire removed the switch shouldn't reverse when it hits bottom.

Hi Ross I removed the ground wire and was able to move the motor with the switch. The only problem is still when the pull down reaches the bottom where it clicks as soon as it clicks it goes back up again.
The fuse box under the ash tray only goes to 24. So I just popped the roof and in plugged the motor .
Thanks
I'm not real sure, but the way it is now the motor may still be working and you'll have a dead battery in the morning.
Do like Ross suggested and cut the wire. Be sure to tape the end so it doesn't short out.
The wire goes to the back side of the motor bracket. It's the only electrical wire on the motor assembly other than the wires in the plug. I cut mine and never looked back. I use the switch all the time now, total control.

Cut the wire far enough away from the motor bracket so that you can splice it back together again in the future if you want.

If you're concerned about a dead battery and can't work on it tonight, remove the circuit breaker/fuse, #27 I think, till you can get at it. Lift out the ashtray, the fuses are under it.
I'm not sure where that is. I did rig a larger plate to catch the j hook it brings down the roof , but it does not click when it stops. It's a temp fix , but not the way I want it to work. I need to find someone who can fix this so I can use the roof.

Mike, You can do a temporary repair there's a wire attached to the motor it's the ground. If you disconnect it you can use the manual switch located behind the Drivers seat under the pass through panel to close the back of the top until you can get somewhere to have it adjusted properly.

Its the wire between my fingers in the first pic and the screw is visable in the second pic

Thanks Ross,
That did not do the trick. I have tried moving the screw too I just can't seem to find the spot to keep from going back up after it clicks. Do you know any place up in Western Massachusetts that can help? I have googled the Alante shop and you as to being closest but you both are at least 4hrs away.
First try cleaning the contacts on the plug and the switch. If that doesn't work you probably have to adjust the tang on the switch. Using needle nose pliers bend it up and close to the latch.
